Tasting Notes
Evoking aromas of dark berries, iris, dark chocolate and spices, the 2024 La Prade possesses a medium-bodied, lively and juicy palate with a good chassis of tannins and a spicy, somewhat brooding finish. This is a blend of 65% Merlot and 35% Cabernet Franc, a notably high proportion of the latter for this estate.

Good intensity to the flavours here, enjoyable, juicy, slate textured tannins, this has a kick of minerality - textured, grip, juice, the austerity feels well earned and not intrusive, with salinity and sappy cool blueberry fruits, cold ash on the finish. Another great value success from Nicolas Thienpont. Harvest 4 to 8 October. 20% new oak. Cabernet Franc from a massal selection from St Emilion., and this is the highest amount to date In organic conversion. Derenoncourt Consultants, 42hl/h yield.
The 2024 La Prade is fabulous. In fact, the 2024 is one of the very best vintages I have tasted. The change of blend in favor of Cabernet Franc has significantly elevated La Prade. Dynamic and vibrant in the glass, with striking depth, the 2024 is seriously impressive. Espresso, mocha, licorice, incense and lavender lift a core of blue/purplish fruit. This is one of the revelations of 2024. Don't miss it!
Quite floral in the perfume, from there you find black raspberries, spices, cherries, and cigar box aromas. Medium-bodied, forward, and already easy-to-drink, the finish is vibrant, chalky, fresh, and refreshing. You can enjoy this on release, or age it for at least a decade or more. Made from 65% Merlot, with 35% Cabernet Franc.
