Tasting Notes
Unfurling in the glass with a gently reductive bouquet of smoke, white flowers, citrus and oak, the 2024 Larrivet Haut-Brion Blanc is medium-bodied, supple and juicy with a sappy attack and a long, elegant finish despite some clove notes in the aftertaste.

The 2024 Larrivet Haut-Brion Blanc is a potent, layered wine endowed with tremendous textural presence. Vinification and élevage in oak, with considerable batonnage, yields an especially rich, almost old-school-Burgundian character. This is a wine that will change perceptions about what white wines from Bordeaux are and what they can be. Tasted two times.
Reductive nose, very much on the lees fermentation and ageing, this shows gunsmoke, steel, apricot, elderflower and white peach. The estate has over 10ha of white grapes, unusually high for the appellation, and they put it to good use here. Harvest 5 to 13 September. 70% new oak.
The 2024 Larrivet Haut-Brion Blanc comes across a little oaky on the nose at present, so the question is how well that will integrate during its élevage and in bottle. The palate is more peachy and tropical in style, which might lend it wider appeal, but I have encountered more complex vintages in recent years.
