FINE+RARE, Oct 2024

Henri Boillot’s Bourgogne Blanc is made with mainly declassified fruit from the villages of Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet, Saint-Romain and Auxey-Duresses. It’s always an impressive wine that offers a brilliant introduction to the estate – and the 2023 is no different. The wine is chalky and limey, with a spicy hint of white pepper. It’s got a bright core of fruit, with a fleshiness too – the rich white peach playing alongside pithy citrus and gunflint notes, all cut by taut acidity. It’s gorgeous and tight now, hinting at what’s to come, with a pleasing phenolic grip on the long, saline finish. Brilliant value.

Outstanding Top value - Ripe and fresh aromas are composed by notes of both white orchard fruit and citrus confit. The sleek, vibrant and delicious middle weight flavors possess unusually good volume for a Bourgogne before concluding in a clean and dry finish. This offers solid quality for the genre. Drink 2027+

From appellation Bourgogne vineyards in Puligny-Montrachet and Meursault along with a bit of St-Aubin and Auxey-Duresses. Mid lemon yellow, with a very engaging correctly ripe Burgundian chardonnay bouquet. Sign up for this. There is still some gas present at the moment which enforces the welcome freshness.
