Tasting Notes

Tasting notes
FINE+RARE, Nov 2023

The 2020 Belle-Brise has an opulent nose with ripe fruit – plums – and violet. It’s already very approachable now, with remarkably fine rounded tannins. Plush.

FINE+RARE, May 2021

A rich, saturated colour, the 2020 Belle-Brise has a concentrated nose packed with a mixture of red and dark berries. It opens with notes of raspberry and white flowers, evolving with air to offer hints of riper dark cherries. On the palate the wine combines the richness, sweetness and gourmand nature of this estate, with an additional and atypical freshness. This results in an exemplary, balanced Pomerol which retains its traditional, elegant, supple and velvety tannins. This is a brilliant showing in 2020, in the same vein as the ’18 or ’19. It will be fascinating to taste all three of these vintages side by side in a decade’s time.

About the producer

Château Belle-Brise - producer
Belle Brise

Tucked away in Pomerol’s southwest corner Ch. Belle-Brise is the ultimate insider’s Bordeaux. With just two hectares of walled garden vineyard, production at this estate is minuscule, making it one of the rarest wines in the marketplace (and arguably more exclusive than either Pétrus or Le Pin).
